Meet The Founder

“Brief Introduction”

Sandra Mackintosh was born in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal. Most of her childhood was spent travelling with family around South Africa… she always looked forward to her next adventure!!

After completing her International Travel & Tourism diploma course straight out of school, she joined one of South Africa’s largest Inbound DMCs where she was employed in the contracting department. After a few years she continued to grow within the company and was placed as senior reservations consultant and proposals specialist! As a result of hard work and dedication, she won the top agent of the year award offering a small share hold within the company. She was placed second in charge overseeing and training staff within the ever growing reservations team.

After a few years, she decided to spread her wings and joined an outbound Incentive travel agency where she was fortunate enough to plan, package and travel with large groups to various International destinations.

Her passion however for South Africa as a destination as well as being a mom of two amazing kids drew her back to her seat and back to the Inbound tourism market. After the birth of her second child and dream to create her own magic – Ruby Travel Solutions was officially opened in 2018!!

“Why the name Ruby Travel Solutions”

With the love of gemstones, Sandra chose the name “Ruby” from the precious Ruby stone that promotes courage and strength, it inspires passion, a zest for life and a fearlessness in the face of any challenge!
Her aim was to form a company based around her love and passion she holds for a place that can only be showcased through the eyes of International travellers.

“Note from the founder”

I have been fortunate enough to travel abroad to many great destinations – although I enjoyed these travelling experiences, NOTHING compares to South Africa. A true hidden Gem united with so much beauty, diversity, and culture.
In 2020 disaster struck the world and we were all confined to our homes with no available travel opportunities. With support from family and friends we persevered and today we remain open and are more passionate than ever to offer unforgettable trips for all !!

I would love to see Ruby Travel Solutions grow from ‘strength to strength’ and truly believe that it will! I believe our Country has it all! Not only do we have the landscape, but we also have the people!
We have come so far as a Nation and together we can grow tourism and bring more guests into this beautiful place we call home!! Travel is my passion and Africa is HOME!!
